Thanksgiving Weekend at Home!

Hi guys! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. The end of the semester is upon me and everything is due.....yesterday! Haha, it's not quite that bad, but close. Right now, I'm home on Thanksgiving break and it's sooo nice to just relax. This Thanksgiving has been a little different, but it's been soo much fun. My roommate, Grace Ji, and Ely Baca, another wonderful friend from school have come home with me for Thanksgiving. We've been relaxing and staying pretty busy pretty much the whole time. On Thanksgiving day, we decided to go ahead and go to Wal-Mart, just us three girls, that is. So we left here around midnight and planned to go, get some of the deals that were on sale at midnight and come back home, sleep a little bit and then get up and go back to Wal-Mart for the 5 AM sale. Well, I didn't think there would be rush on anything, so we just mosied around the store looking at stuff until about 12:40, then I tried to find the $398 laptop I wanted! When I actually found the right line, I asked if they still had them and the answer was "No!" Oh dear! So then I asked where the other laptops were and the lady said, "Well, the $198 laptop is all sold out. So the only one left is the $298 laptop and it's back in sporting goods." So, I hurried back to sporting goods and got in line. After waiting for a little bit longer, I asked if they still had them. The guy said that they hadn't been brought out yet and he didn't know how many there were, but I should get in line and wait until they brought them out in a little bit. So, there I waited....anxiously. After a while, the guy brought them out and started numbering off people in line. When he got to five, which was the lady right before me, he said that there were only six and that I would get the last one! Ahhhh.... He also then read us the rules for getting our beloved computers. The sale didn't start until 5 AM, so he wrote down our names and we had to stay in line until 5 AM and if we left, we lost our spot in line and the computer went to the next person in line. He did say, however, that we were allowed to take 15 minute bathroom breaks, if we went and got a permission slip from him. Haha! So there I was...stuck in Wal-mart for 5 hours! I called Grace and told her the situation and she said that they didn't mind and that they would stay with me and wait. I tried to tell them they could go out to the car and lay the seats down and sleep, I wouldn't mind at all. But they wanted to wait with me. They're wonderful friends! The Wal-mart guy was very nice and went and got bag chairs for us to sit in all night long. Another guys in line, #4 I think, went and got everyone magazines to look at. They also turned on the hunting movie back there above the cash register. Well, I didn't want to call my parents and let them know quite yet, because I didn't want to wake them up, but at the same time, I didn't want them to wake up and panic cause we weren't back yet! So I waited until 4:15 and called them. In the meantime, during my 15 minute breaks I ran around and picked up all the sale items that I thought me parents might want and put them in my cart, so that when they came they could just get the stuff they need out of my cart and not battle the crowds! We had an awesome time there in those five hours, we had tons of fun taking pictures of faces in the magazines with our hair added so that it looked like a real person! Around four we all got really thirsty, so Ely and Grace went and bought four purple cups for $1.50 and a big bottle of Cherry Coke! Mmmmm...then we had a party! Haha. The whole night was so much fun and the hunting movie played all the way through twice! Haha. We were all pretty tired though about that time. So after my parents got there, we bought the computer and finished shopping. As we were leaving the store, we realized that it had been snowing all night long! So we all went and got in our cars quickly, cause it was super cold, and the three of us girls headed out for our second shopping trip. Where too? ERIE! Ely wanted to go to some stores in the mall, so we went straight there after we left Wal-Mart. It was soo cool watching the sun rise and see the snow. Grace also got in a little nap along the way. Once we got up to Erie, we noticed the free doughnut light was on a Krispy Kreme! We got out and went in, however, to our sadness, we discovered that they don't give out free doughnuts anymore! Sad day! So, grandpa, we were the last ones to get in on that little piece of history! Well, we all bought a $.99 doughnut and continued on to the mall. Haha, when we saw the parking lot we all wondered if we were crazy.....the conclusion...yes, very crazy! So we drove around for about 10 minutes until we finally found a parking spot that was two rows away from the door to the mall! WOW, I couldn't believe. The Lord opened that one so we wouldn't have to walk a long ways in the cold! Once we got in the mall, I heard a couple of funny phrases which included, "WOW, it's already light outside!" Hmmm...wonder how long that person had been at the mall! We continued on to several stores, found wonderful sales, long lines and eventually ended up at the pet store ooohhing and awwing over the adorable puppies! Of course, by the time we actually got to the pet store, we were all about half asleep anyway! We all did decide that Hollister is a wonderful place to find a date to the Spring banquet! Haha, just kidding! ;-) Well, around 10 am, we finished shopping and headed for home. After an hour's drive (during which I successfully stayed awake!), we got home to find a wonderful lunch consisting of BBQ chicken wraps and fried potatoes...mmmm. After that we all crashed into our beds until 6 pm.

This morning we woke up around 10 and were headed for Amish country by 11! I've never seen so many Amish out and about before! It was awesome. We stopped by Shrock's and had a bunch of fun looking around, taking pictures and trying on Amish bonnets. Then we head to Spartensburg to the little Amish furniture store. It was sooo cold in that store, but we had a lot of fun. After we got back home from our afternoon adventure, Mom and Ely cooked tacos, complete with all the wonderful extras, including warm tortillas and refried beans. It was one of my favorite meals ever! The after supper we put up the Christmas tree, which was a ton of fun. The Douglas' came over and we had popcorn and watched Mr. Bean movies! Oh what fun! I love the holidays, especially when friends are here to celebrate it with me! :-)
Well, tomorrow is church and the three of us are singing in church tomorrow night. We're singing "O Come, All Ye Faithful." We are each singing solos in our own language for the first three verses and then we're all harmonizing on the the last verse. I think it will be fun! Then monday morning, I'll be getting up early to head out for a half a day of hunting. I think the girls are going to sleep in and relax. I better get going. Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving weekend!
